›› AFC Bournemouth Supporters Trust statement 8th April 2008
The Supporters Trust would like to remind everyone that we have a meeting at the Opera House in Bournemouth this Thursday (10th April). Now that the issue of ownership of AFC Bournemouth is finally coming to an end, the Trust would like to extend an invitation to new owner Marc Jackson to attend Thursdays meeting (start 7pm), and set out his vision for AFC Bournemouth.
In addition to hopefully getting a glimpse of our new future, recent events have brought home the fact that we, as a Trust, recognise the need to be prepared for eventualities such as this.
We hoped that the situation in 1997 would never be repeated. We were wrong.
A good Trust will take on the views of its supporters. We have read many of the comments over recent weeks, and as a result, Thursdays meeting will also begin to look at ways to prepare a ‘contingency’ plan’ should things go awry in the future.
We propose then to discuss the following:
1. The Trust will ask for volunteers to form a steering group to work on a contingency plan to consider and cost all scenarios should we end up in this position again. That way the Trust, with the supporters behind it would be in an ideal position to help out in future.
2. The setting up of a contingency fund. This fund to be used in the event of a worst case scenario, or for other purposes which benefit supporters of AFCB (this could be share purchase, or improved facilities). This would not be a charity, and the fund could be administered by a representative group of supporters (Junior Cherries, Exiles…. Etc…). The fund would therefore be a Supporters Fund.
These are just two areas for discussion at Thursdays meeting. Of course it will be up to you to decide if we proceed, and to bring these ideas to life.
We look forward to seeing you there."
Latest News Marc Jackson has confirmed that he will be attending the meeting on Thursday.
