31st January 2007 - The Community Mutual have released the following statement:

Following a meeting to discuss the position of Chairmanship of the Community Mutual it was agreed by all to adopt the stance that in future the Chair of the CM should not be held by a serving main board member.

"The CM have therefore asked Rob Trent as Vice Chair to take over as temporary chairman for the foreseeable future. The CM would like to thank Derek Borthwick for all his hard work whilst serving as Chairman.

Derek Borthwick will continue as a full board member and is currently working tirelessly on projects as he has done in the past. It should be stated that Derek Borthwick fully agrees with this decision."

"On the Consortium issues and the Media reports involving other interested parties, the CM wish to confirm their stance of talking to any person/s expessing an interest in investing in the Football Club. "

STATEMENT

In light of recent personal views expressed in various media reports, the CM board want to clarify their position regarding the consortium. At this time the CM have not agreed to back or reject the new consortium deal, and wish to make it clear that personal comments do not reflect the CM position. Ernie Battey and David Musker from the CM have been in many discussions with the Consortium as we seek to understand all the relevant aspects to their proposals.

One of the basic principles of the formation of the CM was to protect the club in situations like these and we take this responsibility very seriously. We welcome the chance to meet with any investors as we appreciate that investment is necessary for the club and its future. However any investor/s wishing to take a controlling interest in the club would have to satisfy the CM membership as to a number of fundamental issues. Clearly those issues would include a sound financial plan, constitutional matters, representation on any new board and of the course the use of the golden share.

To date we are still in discussions with the consortium and as stated previously we would need all these issues resolved before we could give our firm backing to any parties.

The CM will shortly announce the date of its Special General Meeting (SGM) with its members at which we would hope to be in a position to answer any questions posed by its members and to vote on any recommendation.

We want as many of our members to participate in the decision making process as possible. It is vital therefore that if you think that your email address, or your home contact details, have changed in any way, please let us know as quickly as possible by emailing afcbcm@afcb.co.uk, or alternatively you can write to:
